Wellbeing
At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.
We do this through:
- teachers who help students feel welcome and included
- access to school counsellors, school psychologists and specialist staff
- programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour
- help for students who are new or changing year levels
- clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships
- staff who get to know each child and work closely with families
- developing health care plans for students
- open communication about wellbeing and support.

Parent Testamonial
"We moved to Largs during the 2021 COVID lockdown, when our eldest daughter was in Year 1. Enrolling and organising transition days was a much smoother process than I anticipated, due to the friendly and approachable executive and administrative staff, and our family was immediately welcomed into the school community by other families. Informal chats with our daughter's teacher at the school gate kept us updated with her progress as she settled in, and the relationships I built with the other members of staff as a member of the P&C enabled me to plan ahead for transitioning our second child, with some additional needs, into kindergarten. With the support of his teachers, he is flourishing, and they were instrumental in helping us access the right allied health professionals outside of school.
We now have three children at Largs Public School, with our youngest starting kindergarten this year. She was part of the first cohort to benefit from extended kinder transition program, Largs Little Learners, which is now in its second year, helping new students feel more prepared for big school.
There are many extracurricular activities available for them to be involved in, including sports teams, choir, dance, visual arts and STEM activities, as well as community activities like fetes, movie nights and welcome picnics for families to become more involved in the school community. I feel fortunate that my kids attend such a lovely little school, with a big heart and so many opportunities available to them."
